The building really is a converted fire station. Once the home of the first local fire service and used as accommodation for US marines during WW2, the heritage-listed building has operated as a backpackers’ hostel since 1986.
The staff, all backpackers once upon a time, are fully trained and take pride in sharing their extensive local knowledge to make your stay one you’ll never forget. Ask them anything!
Guests love the clean, good value facilities and also the friendly, fun atmosphere that makes OFS so special – just look at the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and great reviews.
The Old Fire Station Backpackers in Fremantle is the perfect hostel to mix with international travelers, make new friends and begin (or continue) your Australian adventure.
The Fremantle train station is only a 3-minute walk away; it’s a short stroll to the beach and there’s easy access to the best of Freo and Perth.
If you want to chill or to party, there’s plenty of space at the OFS and look how each dorm is decorated in a unique and colourful way. It is so good here that guests keep coming back year after year; some even stay on, as staff.
